about
a performer | After graduating from Florida State University’s Musical Theatre program, Leryn enjoyed an extensive performance career in Chicago’s vibrant theatre scene, performing in 14 Equity productions of musicals and plays, as well as the jazz group Treble on the L with her beloved pal, Aaron Davidson. Some of her favorite projects included Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz at Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, Sally in You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown at the Drury Lane Theatre, and Sandy in Grease at The Marriott Theatre. She was nominated for a Jeff Award for her portrayal of Darlene in Honky Tonk Angels at the Theo Ubique Cabaret Theatre.
an educator | Leryn completed a Master of Music in Voice Pedagogy from Shenandoah University with emphasis in Contemporary Commercial Music, during which her main topics of research were underrepresented genres in the curricula of elite collegiate music programs, and the causes and interventions for performance anxiety. Her graduate recital focus was an exploration on music as a vehicle for curiosity— in other words, taking “keen interest” in the lives and stories and wellbeing of those around you or those who are represented within the music itself. Leryn is now an Associate Teacher with BroadwayVox in New York City. She enjoys a full roster of incredible humans and singers, represented on Broadway, national tours, regional theatre, a cappella groups, dance companies, and beyond.
a human | She still regularly auditions and performs! Roles that challenge expectations, inspire curiosity, and using her voice in daring and unexpected ways are her happy places. In her free time, she loves spending time outdoors, listening to French language-learning podcasts, crocheting, or cuddling with her cats and a book. You can usually find her and her husband Paul-Jordan Jansen having a pint after a nice hike.
